Nonprofits & Foundations
A finance function as serious as the mission.
501(c)(3) operating nonprofits whose financial function needs to match the seriousness of the mission, fund accounting, audit-readiness, and a fiscal partner for the executive director.
A 501(c)(3) operating nonprofit with a related supporting organization needed more than monthly bookkeeping; they needed a month-end close timely and accurate enough to drive real budget-level reporting to management and key staff, plus the audit-readiness their structure demands.
The existing process couldn't reliably deliver either. Spend was tracked across cards with no centralized oversight, the accounting software wasn't built for nonprofit reporting, and the executive director had no clear financial sounding board on fiscal questions that affected the mission.
We engaged across three fronts. First, the tech stack: we implemented a modern credit card spend management system that brought visibility and control to organizational spending, and we migrated the books to an accounting platform purpose-built for nonprofits, one that handles fund accounting, restricted and unrestricted classifications, and audit reporting natively rather than as a workaround.
Second, ongoing financial operations: we run an accurate monthly close that supports budget-level reporting management can actually use to lead.
Third, fiscal leadership: we serve as an embedded advisor to the executive director, weighing in on the financial issues that shape strategy: from program funding decisions to audit preparation to board-level financial communication.
The result is an organization whose financial function now matches the seriousness of its mission. Management gets clear, timely reporting they can run programs against. The audit process became routine rather than stressful. And the director has a financial partner who understands the unique pressures of nonprofit leadership and can speak directly to what the numbers mean for the work ahead.
