About DAT

A CPA partnership that
leads alongside you.

DAT Finance was built on a simple idea: the financial leadership that separates a good year from a great one shouldn't be reserved for businesses big enough to hire a full executive bench.

The story

Built for the businesses doing the building.

I'm Tyler Davis, the CPA behind DAT Finance. I started this practice in 2022 to be the kind of finance partner I kept watching owners go without, the one who actually sits in the chair with you when the hard calls show up. Today I work with operators across Ohio and nationwide on full-service accounting, fractional controller and CFO engagements, and the tax strategy that ties it together.

Why I built it

I kept seeing the same gap. Owners with real momentum and real complexity, but no path to senior finance leadership that didn't involve stitching together three vendors and hoping it held. A bookkeeper here, a tax preparer there, an outside advisor who showed up twice a year, and the owner left to be the integration layer between all of them.

So I built the practice I wished existed. One partner across the accounting, the leadership, and the tax work. Senior judgment in every conversation. A relationship designed to compound year over year, not a one-off engagement designed to bill. Before this, I spent years inside operational financial leadership, as a finance director and as a board treasurer, doing the operational work most CPAs only see from the outside. That experience shapes how I think about every business I sit with, mission-driven or otherwise.

How I work

The person you talk to on the discovery call is the person who does the work and stays accountable for it. You don't get handed off to junior staff, and you don't get a diluted version of the relationship that brought you in. You get a financial expert who sees the whole picture, your books, your margins, your cash flow, your tax position, and treats all of it as connected, because it is.

I work like an operator because I sit next to operators every day. I care how your business runs, not just how it reports. When you're weighing a hire, a price change, or a move into a new market, I run the numbers and tell you straight whether it works, the same way I'd want to know if it were my own company on the line.

I'd rather explain something twice in plain English than once in jargon. If I can't say it clearly, I don't understand it well enough yet.

Sidney, Ohio is home, and the practice is built for owners who care about where they live and work, not just where they grow. If that sounds like the kind of partnership you've been looking for, the discovery call is the right place to start.

What I believe

The standards I hold myself to.

01

Owner-minded

We think like operators, because we work with operators every day. Every recommendation gets weighed against the reality of running the business.

02

Senior, always

You don't get bounced to a junior. The person in your meetings is accountable for the outcome, and senior judgment stays in the room.

03

In it for the long run

We're not chasing the engagement. We're building a partnership that gets more valuable every year you stay.

04

Plain-spoken

If we can't explain it clearly, we don't understand it well enough. No jargon, no hand-waving, no surprises in the footnotes.
